It is not long now until we can start classes again on 19th May at Chilwell and 20th May at Mapperley.

I will be teaching Jive (Rock & Roll) and Argentine Tango so we can stay within our own space and not be travelling around the floor.  I will be limiting numbers to 6 couples in each class and we will need to socially distance, also there will be plenty of ventilation.

NHS advice about washing and keeping a safe distance can be found here.

If all goes well I will be running another 7 week course over the summer.  I should be able to teach ballroom dances by then, so hopefully the course will be in Waltz & Cha Cha starting at the beginning of July.

I have had four sessions at the Memory Café at Middle Street Resource Centre in Beeston recently.  It was great to get back even though they were small groups to keep to restrictions.   These sessions are very different from my usual classes requiring dancing while seated and I was very rusty as I hadn’t danced for at least 4 months, but by the second session I was back into the flow. You can find more information about the Memory Café here.

Our dance in the wonderful Prospect Room at Wollaton Hall is booked for Sunday June 13th. As this date is still within the latest restrictions we ma not be able to hold it that weekend.  If not it may have to be June 27th.  There has been so many postponements and date changes I won’t blame you for wondering whether it will ever happen.  We will get to dance there again at some point I’m sure.

Another date to look forward to is Saturday October 9th 2021.  I have booked the fantastic Ballroom in the City Council House for another Autumn Dance.

I hope you are all keeping safe.

If you have been keeping up to date with the government’s road map for the easing of restrictions you will have an idea of how and when the various sectors will reopen.

The good news is that it looks as though we will be able to start classes again after May 17th.  This means we could start classes on Wednesday 19th May at Chilwell and Thursday 20th May at Mapperley.

Unfortunately that is still many weeks away but at least we have a date to look forward to.

As planned I will start with Jive and Argentine Tango with limited numbers and all the social distancing and safety precautions from before.  I also appreciate that after all this time you might feel like complete beginners so I’ll start slowly.

When we do start classes we will still be following NHS advice, washing hands regularly and keeping a safe distance.

Our dance in the wonderful Prospect Room at Wollaton Hall, booked for Sunday April 25th, will need to be postponed yet again.  I have re-booked for Sunday June 13th , so hopefully third time lucky.

Another date to look forward to is Saturday October 9th 2021.  I have booked the fantastic Ballroom in the City Council House for another Autumn Dance.

I hope you are all keeping safe.

I’m sure that most of us would rather forget 10 of the last 12 months. Many of us have had plans ruined, holidays cancelled, reunions and celebrations made impossible, along with the closure of so many businesses where many of us were able to meet and enjoy time with others. The roll-out of the vaccine which started this week is a beacon of hope for the return of normality in 2021.

And so I would like to thank all of you who have supported me through the strangest of 12 months and by showing your eagerness to get back and Start Dancin’ again.

The Argentine Tango & Jive course looks less likely to go ahead now but you never know. If I cannot run this course on January 6th then I will postpone it to the first week when we are out of Tier 3 and into Tier 2.  When we do start classes we will still be following NHS advice, washing hands regularly and keeping a safe distance.

Best wishes to you all and enjoy the festive period as best you can. Until next year – stay safe all,

Doug

It is still unsure when classes can start again.  As soon as Government advice allows the venues to open again, our courses will start.  I’ll keep you posted.

In the meantime if you are wanting to recap on some basic Samba I have produced a short video for some home dancing. Let me know and I’ll email you a link to the website page.  I will also include some Tango so you may need to do some serious furniture moving!

When we do start classes we will still be following NHS advice, washing hands regularly and keeping a safe distance.
